Philip Morris International (PMI), the world’s leading tobacco company, is celebrating 10 years since the launch of its flagship heating tobacco system, IQOS. This significant celebration event takes place in the Japanese capital, Tokyo, on October 19.
The global event will include the launch of a global platform named “IQOS Together X”, bringing together smokers who have chosen to quit smoking and switch to IQOS smoke-free products, and hosting participants from 29 countries around the world, including Egypt.
PMI launched a social media competition on Instagram in Egypt to select 6 winners to travel to Tokyo and participate in the global event, to learn about the progress related to alternatives to traditional smoking.
IQOS Together X celebrates a unique achievement that began in Japan 10 years ago. Today, IQOS reached more than 30.8 million adult consumers, 22.1 million of whom have completely switched to using IQOS and quit traditional smoking.
IQOS Together X will not only celebrate those who used the power of choice to switch to better alternatives but also invite others to join the journey to completely quit traditional cigarettes. The event in Japan will highlight the importance of accelerating progress towards a smoke-free future, by fostering fruitful dialogue to encourage taking steps to support the ongoing transition from traditional cigarettes to innovative alternative products.
It is worth noting that innovative alternative products to traditional cigarettes, such as heated tobacco products and others, offer a better alternative to traditional cigarettes, as they eliminate burning. Recent studies have proven that burning cigarettes is responsible for smoking-related diseases, as cigarette smoke produces more than 6,000 harmful chemicals. At the same time, alternative products deliver nicotine to users in innovative ways that do not involve burning.
