Kalba witnessing magical opening for the 20th Sharjah Heritage Days 3 - Egyptian Gazette

 Sharjah – On the land of Al-Hosn District’s, and between the corridors of its ancient homes, whose hands were opened to welcome the guests, and in continuation of its important role in the Emirati folklore construction in general and Sharjah in particular Sheikh Haitham bin Saqr Al-Qasimi, Deputy Head of the Ruler’s Office in Kalba, and His Excellency Dr Abdulaziz Al-Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH) and Chairman of the Supreme Organising Committee for Sharjah Heritage Days (SHD), the activities of the 20th session of SHD in the city of Kalba, to witness the heritage of this ancient city and the features, evidence, and values it contains that impressed visitors and guests.

Sheikh Haitham bin Saqr Al-Qasimi, accompanied by His Excellency Dr Abdulaziz Al-Musallam, made a comprehensive tour, where the land of Al-Hosn District witnessed the establishment of a group of local heritage events that started with the traditional performance of the Al-Ayyala, with the participation of a group of UAE children who performed a number of folk dances with melodies and the well-known rhythms, and the chanting of a group of poems and poems organised by the people of the UAE, in the past and modern, reflects in its content the entirety of their popular lives and depicts aspects of their different feelings, which in its entirety calls on everyone to co-operate, love, generosity, and pride.

Expressing the welcome of the people of Kalba to the guests of Sharjah Heritage Days, a group of school students presented a number of different events, praised the love of the UAE for freedom and peace, its support for the values of tolerance and humanity, and its appreciation for heritage, culture, science, and civilisation.

An opportunity to communicate and civilise between nations and peoples.

On this occasion, Saqr Muhammad, Chairman of the Central and Eastern Regions Opening Committee, and Al-Hamriya, for Sharjah Heritage Days, said: “We are all overwhelmed with great happiness by honoring you to attend in this place that regained his prominent role at the hands of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. This is an opportunity to learn about the heritage of the state and Sharjah. We look forward to being an important factor of communication and civilised construction between nations and peoples.

Saqr Muhammad added, “This will be held on the sidelines of the heritage days of Sharjah, a number of events that include the storyteller’s workshop and the Al-Mawrouth Library exhibition.

The storyteller is preparing to embrace the guest children and their families and share a number of Emirati heritage folk tales in his beloved way and distinctive dress. Meanwhile, the inherited library will review a set of sources that talk about the Emirati heritage aspects, especially those related to ideals, folk tales, local dialect, and the adoration of the Emirati man of the sea.

It will also review a number of heritage names that have had prominent roles in preserving the permanence of local heritage and in appreciation of their distinguished contributions to its support, development, and spread.

The current year’s theme, “Heritage and Creativity,” reflects Sharjah’s commitment to enhancing the presence of a culture of local heritage in various activities held on its soil. The city aims to absorb all possible heritage aspects, whether at the environmental, urban, or societal levels, including etiquette, poems, tales, proverbs, costumes, and traditions.
