On the occasion of 75th Republic Day of India, the flag hoisting ceremony was held at India House in Cairo on 26 January 2024.

During the event, young Egyptians showcased their love for Indian dance and music through their mesmerising performances. Indian Embassy in Cairo tweeted some of these performances. Many of these Tweets showcasing Egyptian talent went viral on social media, including in India.

Prime Minister of India H.E. Narendra Modi retweeted the Tweet uploaded by Embassy of India, Cairo and praised the young Egyptian girl Ms. Kariman for her rendition of patriotic song “Desh Rangeela” during 75th Republic Day celebrations organised by the Embassy of India. Congratulating Ms. Kariman for her efforts, Prime Minister Modicommented that the rendition by Ms. Kariman was melodious and wished her the very best for her future endeavours.

Prime Minister Modi has often highlighted the historic civilisational contacts and close cultural links between India and Egypt. He has also appreciated the warmth and love Egyptians have for India and Indian culture.

During his State visit to Egypt in June 2023 as well, Prime Minister was welcomed by another young Egyptian girl, Ms. Jenna, who sang “Yeh Dosti Ham Nahi Todenge” (we will never leave this friendship), which received significant media coverage in both countries.
