Secretary-general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mostafa Waziry re-opened a 17th century sabil (water dispenser) and the Abdel Baqi bin Khair Eddin El-Tobgi kuttab (school for young children) after seven months of restoration and maintenance work.
The sabil is in el-Mangalah Alley, off el-Semari Street in Darb Saada, in el-Darb el-Ahmar.
The sabil has a facade with two windows for drinking water, and above it is a kuttab.
Restoration was funded by local donations, Waziry said. Flooring was replaced with flagstones or marble and ceilings have been repaired and waterproofed.
