Egyptian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Health Minister Khalid Abdel Ghaffar announced that the Egyptian Ambulance Authority will introduce the “electric scooter ambulance” service.
In statements on Tuesday, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said that specially-equipped scooter ambulances with trained riders can squirt through traffic faster than an ambulance and in gridlock situations.
The scooter ambulance can bring the emergency medical care to the injured persons until the ambulance arrives, he further noted.
The scooter ambulance is eco-friendly and can run over 100km per charge, he added.
For his part, Head of the Ambulance Authority Mohamed Gad said that the scooter ambulance is in line with the State’s efforts to protect the environment and the goals of the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 27) to the UNFCCC, to be held in the Red Sea resort of Sharm El Sheikh in November.
He further underlined that the Ambulance Authority has made great strides in the file of reliance on clean energy via building 77 solar power plants.
