Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed on Wednesday announced a comprehensive medical insurance plan during the Eid el-Fitr nationwide as part of the ministry’s concern for public health and safety.
“Medical insurance plan includes 2,190 ambulances on roads, highways, and main squares in the governorates, in addition to 11 water ambulances,” said Dr Khaled Mugahid, Assistant Minister of Health and Population for Information and Awareness and the official spokesperson for the ministry.
According to the minister, the highest -level of preparedness has been made in all hospitals, as well as medical teams including doctors, technicians, and nursing in all hospitals’ emergency departments.
The minister confirmed that Crisis and Emergency Room (CER) has been tasked to follow up the implementation of the medical insurance plan around the clock.
“Sufficient stocks of medicines and medical and preventive supplies in hospitals are provided in all governorates,” the minister said, pointing to the availability of adequate stocks of blood and its derivatives in blood banks affiliated to the ministry nationwide.
“Some 94,000 blood bags from different groups and 17,000 plasma bags are also available,” Zayed added, referring to the continuous coordination between the ambulance and health affairs directorates, in addition to medical teams specified for rapid intervention in case of any emergency or accident.
Mugahid also stressed the importance of adhering to the preventive and precautionary measures to confront covid-19 pandemic. Such measures include wearing a mask, washing hands frequently, maintaining social distancing, being in well-ventilated places, in addition to the need to reduce home visits and family gatherings in order to preserve the health of all family members.
He also called on the public to follow a healthy diet that strengthens the immune system, such as eating healthy foods rich in vitamins and natural fibre.
Mugahed pointed to the need to go to the nearest hospital affiliated with the Ministry of Health and Population in the governorate in case of feeling any symptoms of sickness of the Corona virus, or calling the hotline (105). He also stressed the importance of periodic follow-up of home isolation patients to their health status by sending text messages with the word “isolation” to the number (1440).
