Two confirmed cases of the COVID-19 variant EG.5 have been detected in Egypt.
Ministry of Health added in its announced yesterday that the two patients are suffering from minor symptoms and are showing signs of recovery.
The symptoms EG.5, dubbed ‘Eris’ are no more severe than its predecessor, the ministry said in a statement.
After the incubation period, the patient may suffer from high temperature, fatigue and a runny nose.
Furthermore, they could lose the sense of taste and smell and suffer from blocked ears, pain in the eyes, headaches, stomach pain and diarrhoea.
The over 65s, immune-compromised individuals, people with chronic illnesses and health sector workers are most vulnerable to EG.5.
