The 69th session of Dr. Hanan Youssef’s Cultural Salon was held on Thursday under the theme “Vacations: Reflections, Reforms, and Beginnings.” The event took place under the patronage of the Arab Organisation for Dialogue and International Co-operation and brought together a distinguished group of figures, academics, and media professionals from across the Arab world.
Dr. Hanan Youssef, President of the Salon and Professor of Media, explained that the session was dedicated to exploring the significance of vacations in human life. She described vacations as a vital necessity and a natural human need, offering individuals the opportunity to relax, develop, and move forward.
She emphasised that the session aimed to present the trilogy of “Reflections, Reforms, and New Beginnings” as an invitation to rethink how vacation time is utilised.
“Planning during vacations is essential,” Dr Youssef said, noting that a well-organised break allows people to gain the full benefits of their time off.
Throughout the session, participants shared a variety of suggestions on how to make the most of vacation time. They stressed the importance of having a well-considered plan that balances personal aspirations with rest and relaxation.
Recommended activities included outdoor sports, swimming, short trips, and engaging in self-improvement pursuits such as learning new skills or languages. Participants also highlighted the value of developing new abilities, strengthening social relationships, and focusing on both mental and physical well-being.
They emphasised that vacations offer a valuable opportunity for personal growth and self-care. By maintaining a healthy balance between professional responsibilities and personal life, individuals can cultivate a more fulfilling and harmonious lifestyle – one that supports lasting happiness and career success.
