The Giza Pyramids plateau will be open to visitors as of May 1 from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m., a high-tanking antiquities official said Tuesday.
Supreme Council of Antiquities Secretary General Mostafa Waziry added that admission tickets will be on sale until 5 p.m.
However, the Khufu (Cheops) Pyramid will be undergoing planned maintenance work and restoration from this June onwards.
Visitors will still have access to Menkaure, Waziry said in the statement.
Similarly, the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, downtown Cairo will be open as of April 21 from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. and tickets will be on sale until 6 p.m., Waziry added.
Tour operators have been notified of the new timings so that itineraries can be altered accordingly, he said.
