The Cairo Opera House hosted a Turkish Classical Music and Art Concert to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye and the 500th anniversary of the Turkish Foreign Service. This was the first such concert in a decade since the two countries restored relations.
The Gemil Bey Zade Turkish Music Ensemble, which includes musicians from Türkiye and Egypt, performed 18 pieces in different tunes.
The Ensemble featured Turkish musicians Ahmet Tasoğlu, Ayșe Erdal, Mustafa Bülent Tetik, Candeniz Eroğlu, and Egyptian musicians Dr Medhat Abdel-Salam, Suzan Saber, Mohamed Ahmed, Doaa Saber, Mohamed Saed, Mizo, Diaa Eldin Hassan, Mohamed Essam Eddin and Mostafa Bayoumi.
The Egyptian singer, Laila Ibrahim, mesmerised the audience by singing the Turkish song Sultani Cedid Saz Semai composed by Şekerci Cemil Bey (1867-1958).
