The Egyptian Sports for All Federation (ESFA) has announced the appointment of Dr Hanan Youssef as the head of its newly formed Egyptian Yoga Committee.
Dr Youssef, a professor of media and a current member of the ESFA Board of Directors, was selected by the Federation’s Board which is headed by Dr Imad El-Banani.
This decision reflects the ESFA’s commitment to promoting yoga among all segments of Egyptian society, Dr Youssef said.
She expressed gratitude for the trust placed in her, highlighting yoga’s significance as a sport that fosters mental and physical well-being, reduces stress, and promotes overall health.
“Yoga is a practice for both the mind and the body,” Dr Youssef said.
“It embodies balance, not just within the body or between the mind and the body, but also in our relationship with the world,” she added.
She noted that in this way, yoga aligns perfectly with the ESFA’s mission to encourage exercise and healthy lifestyles, while promoting social harmony and mental well-being.
Dr Youssef revealed plans for the Egyptian Yoga Committee to launch various initiatives in collaboration with Egyptian, Arab, and international organizations in the coming period.
These activities, she said, aim to raise awareness and encourage yoga practice throughout Egypt, ultimately contributing to the nation’s overall health.
The ESFA participated in International Yoga Day celebrations which were held in Freedom Park, Cairo, on June 21.
The event was organized in collaboration with the Indian Embassy in Cairo.
