The US Embassy’s American Center Cairo (ACC) is pleased to announce the completion of its online Digital Skills Camp. The 14-day programme provided an opportunity for 40 amateur content creators and young journalists to critically evaluate media messages and create their own ethical content, with the help of professional media practitioners and university professors.
Through 57 hours of seminars and workshops, participants were able to master the skill of creating advanced audio and video content; broaden the scope of their media messages; network with like-minded individuals; understand the advantages and risks of AI in the media; and find ways to counter bias, manipulation, and misinformation. By the end of the camp, participants produced 12 video projects on diverse topics including consumer behavior on social media, AI and copyrights, media addiction, and the impact of social media on language.
The ACC offers hundreds of in-person and online free programmes and educational opportunities each year to audiences in Egypt, to promote open communication and cross-cultural understanding. These include English conversation clubs, technology programs, and information sessions on studying in the United States. A free membership in the ACC offers access to thousands of American digital and print versions of books, newspapers, magazines, and films. Follow the ACC’s webpage and the U.S. Embassy’s Facebook page to receive notifications about upcoming events.
