The British Council is supporting ten distinguished undergraduates from Al-Azhar University for an intensive three-week study programme in the United Kingdom. These students, were selected for their exceptional academic achievements, including the university’s top student, who are now participating in a course designed to enhance their English language proficiency and develop essential leadership skills.
The students were enrolled at the Anglo-Continental School in Bournemouth, a renowned English language institution accredited by the British Council, with nearly 75 years of experience in providing high-quality education. The programme is set to improve their communication abilities, foster effective team collaboration, increase cultural awareness and sensitivity, and strengthen their approach to problem-solving.
Mark Howard, British Council Director in Egypt commented “We are delighted to support those exceptional scholars on this trip to the UK. At the British Council our mission is to build connections understanding and trust. This is an excellent opportunity for these young people to not only build on their English skills but to also experience cultural exchange. I look forward to hearing about their stories when they return to Egypt.”
To ensure a comprehensive cultural experience, the students are accommodated with local homestay families. This arrangement provides a safe and supportive environment, while also immersing the students in British culture and offering them ample opportunities for language practice.
In addition to their academic pursuits, the programme includes daily cultural activities, ranging from festivals and baking to perfume making, designed to enrich their understanding of British traditions and lifestyle.
The British Council remains committed to supporting educational and cultural exchanges that empower young people and contribute to a more interconnected and peaceful world.
