The British Council in Egypt has announced Capital International School as a recipient of this year’s Action Research Grant, a new initiative to support educators to conduct research and drive educational innovation.
Capital International School were selected after careful review as part of 12 schools from over 180 applications across 18 countries.
Upon completion of their project, the school will have the opportunity to have their research published and shared on national and international platforms and deliver their research papers at national and international conferences.
The Action Research Grants programme is designed to foster a culture of action research within the British Council’s Partner Schools community. By drawing on both theory and practice, educators in the British Council’s Partner Schools network will be at the forefront of driving educational innovation and finding global solutions to challenges in the field.
The selected researchers will carry out projects addressing key education areas, including developing education leadership at all levels, developing effective Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programs, and using technology to enhance teaching, learning, and assessment.
These projects hold great promise in improving educational standards and benefiting both schools and students.
The themes of Capital International School’s Action Research Grant will include:
Developing an effective professional development programme for all their staff members not only teachers.
Developing a programme to align newly hired staff and develop another programme to enhance the knowledge and practice of everyone on board to make it easier for students to belong to the school community.
Having a shared vision will unify the culture of their community to become a continuous learning community to promote their school’s improvement, focusing on aspects of teaching and learning, assessments, and safeguarding.

In addition to the grant fund, each recipient will receive mentoring from an expert academic lead, guiding them on conducting, reporting, and sharing their research findings. The researchers will benefit from expert support and guidance through online tutoring and workshops, enabling them to produce high-quality, innovative research.
The Action Research programme also emphasises the importance of collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
Grant recipients will have the opportunity to engage in peer-to-peer conversations with colleagues, fostering shared exploration and research. Furthermore, they will receive assistance in preparing their research papers for publication and be supported in sharing their findings through conferences and training.
