A local publishing house has released an anthology of Bangladeshi poetry.
Kayan Publishing House of Egypt issued the 125-poem collection by Dr Kamal Chowdhury.
A celebrated Palestinian scholar based in Paris by the renowned translated the anthology from Bengali into Arabic.
The book is on sale at the Cairo International Book Fair at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre (EIEC) in New Cairo.
The fair runs until 7 February 2022.
Bangladesh Ambassador to Egypt Monirul Islam was presented with a copy of the anthology Qasa’id Mukhtara at the event, where he met Dr Haitham El-Hag, Head of the General Book Authority.
This is the first time a Bangladeshi poet has published his work in Arabic in co-operation with Bangladeshi Embassy in Cairo.
Under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the 53rd Cairo International Book Fair was inaugurated by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli in presence of Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem.
The General Book Authority is giving awards for the Best Egyptian and the Best Arab Publisher. More than 1,060 Egyptian, Arab and foreign publishers are taking part.
