The Egyptian Japanese University for Science and Technology held a seminar, ‘Modernisation Experience in Japan’
Minister of Higher Education Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of International Co-operation Rania al-Mashat, the Japanese ambassador to Cairo and the regional director of the Japanese International Co-operation Agency (JICA) attended the event.
Specialists from thirteen universities in Japan also participated via video conferencing.
Abdel Ghaffar stressed the importance of the Egyptian-Japanese University for Science and Technology to further co-operation in scientific research and grant Egyptian students scholarships in Japan to support science and technology in Egypt and Africa.
The minister also noted the importance of the presentation on the unprecedented development achieved by Japan, praising its scientific and technological achievements.
Abdel Ghaffar referred to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s interest in co-operation with Japan to benefit from its unique experience in reaching the highest stages of development.
For her part, Minister of International Co-operation Rania al-Mashat said this event coincided with the visit by the head of the JICA Egypt office and the head of the JICA Middle East office.
The seminar was also the fruit of co-operation with Egypt and Japan, al-Mashat said, adding that the Egyptian-Japanese University of Science and Technology plays an important role as a centre for the transmission of that experience, not only in Egypt, but in Africa and the Middle East.
Japanese Ambassador to Cairo Masaki Noke said the Egyptian-Japanese University is a pioneer in scientific research and is Japan’s window to education in Africa, explaining that it co-operates with Japan’s top thirteen universities, providing education and overseeing scientific research in accordance with international standards with full support from the Japanese government.
