Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, accompanied by Turkish Ambassador to Egypt Salih Mutlu Şen, attended the historic opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) on Saturday, representing the Republic of Türkiye.
The museum was inaugurated as the world’s largest archaeological museum under the patronage and in the presence of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
“Dubbed the Fourth Pyramid, the GEM proudly displays the complete treasures of Tutankhamun, Pharaoh Khufu’s solar boat, and other landmark artifacts from ancient Egyptian civilisation, a monumental cultural endeavor that illuminates the entirety of human history,” the minister said.
“I firmly believe that every step taken to protect cultural heritage and transmit it to future generations strengthens the bonds of friendship and cultural cooperation between our nations,” Minister Ersoy added.
