The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) welcomed two distinguished diplomatic delegations: US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sharifzoda Farrukh Homiddin, during their official visit to Egypt.

Led by GEM CEO Ahmed Ghoneim, the delegations began their tour at the museum’s impressive exterior plaza and entered the majestic Grand Hall. They ascended the grand staircase, which offers a breathtaking introduction to the rich heritage preserved within the museum’s walls.

Their walk continued through the main exhibition galleries, where the incredible story of ancient Egyptian civilisation unfolds. These galleries chronicle Egypt’s journey from the Early Dynastic period through to the Greco-Roman era, immersing visitors in the nation’s profound history.

A highlight of the tour was the remarkable King Tutankhamun collection. For the first time, the entire trove of the legendary pharaoh’s treasures is displayed together, captivating the guests with its splendor and significance.

The diplomatic parties concluded their visit with an exploration of the Khufu Boat Museum, marvelling at the ancient vessel that once accompanied the Great Pyramid.

At the end of their journey, both delegations expressed admiration for the GEM’s archaeological treasures and praised the exceptional quality and engaging presentation of its exhibits.
