CAIRO – The Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) announced to start of a project to restore the Ramesseum Temple in Luxor, in cooperation with the Korean National University of Cultural Heritage.

In a press statement released recently, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy commended the project, which will help in reviving and preserving one of the most important Egyptian temples and adding a new tourist attraction in Luxor.

On his part, SCA Secretary General Mohamed Ismail said according to MENA that the project aims to dismantle, restore and reassemble the stones of the first pylon of the Ramesseum, a mortuary temple of Pharaoh Ramses II.

King Ramses II (c.1279-1213 BC), the most famous king of ancient Egypt (who fought a battle against the Hittites), built the Ramesseum Temple, a funerary temple built of sandstone, the temple served as a model for future temples built by different kings.
