In a landmark event symbolising the thriving cooperation between Egypt and Italy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy, and Italian Minister of Tourism, Daniela Santanchè, officially inaugurated the Italian Hospitality School in the vibrant city of Hurghada, Red Sea Governorate.
The ceremony, attended by numerous dignitaries, marks a significant milestone in the region’s tourism and educational sectors.
During his address, Minister Fathy praised the collaborative efforts of the project’s organisers from Egypt and Italy.
“Completing this ambitious project in just seven months stands as a testament to effective public-private sector partnerships,” he said.
Highlighting the importance of investing in human capital, Fathy emphasised the project’s role in enhancing the skills of the tourism workforce, aligning with the ministry’s strategic priorities.
“The initiative offers a platform for cultural exchange between Egypt and Italy, promising to groom qualified professionals for the tourism industry — one of Egypt’s pivotal economic sectors,” Fathy added.
He underscored the critical role of the tourism industry in fostering global peace and understanding, while ensuring tourist safety and security remains paramount.
Italian Minister Santanchè also addressed the audience, expressing delight in the collaborative endeavour, which she described as an embodiment of peace and unity in the Mediterranean.
She emphasised the transformative power of tourism in bridging cultures and nurturing stronger connections across the region.
Set to commence its operations next January, the Italian Hospitality School, developed in partnership with Federturismo Confindustria and Pick Albatros Group, will begin accepting student applications in June.
Italian educators will lead six-month training programmes to equip Egyptian teachers with world-class skills.
This project aims to provide vocational training to youth according to the highest international standards, thereby strengthening the tourism and hospitality sectors in Egypt.
