Egypt’s Minister of Culture, Gihane Zaki, attended rehearsals led by renowned conductor Selim Sahab for the Egyptian National Choir and Orchestra, describing the project as an important step in nurturing artistic talent from across the country’s regions and provinces.

The rehearsals were held at Al-Samer Theater and organised by the General Authority for Cultural Palaces, with the participation of young performers selected from different cultural regions across Egypt, the Culture Ministry said in a statement.

Zaki praised the level of performance demonstrated by participants during the training sessions, saying the initiative, led by Sahab, provides a valuable opportunity for emerging artists to develop their skills under the guidance of an established musical figure.

“Our goal is to prepare a new generation of artists capable of carrying the banner of Egyptian arts and preserving the country’s authentic musical heritage,” Zaki said.

She added that the ministry is committed to providing a serious training environment for young talents, enabling them to develop their abilities in choral singing and orchestral performance.

The minister said the ministry’s doors remain open to Egyptian creatives and cultural figures to collaborate on initiatives aimed at discovering and supporting young talent, noting that drawing on the experience of established artists helps strengthen culture’s role in shaping national identity and fostering creativity across the country.

The National Egypt Choir and Orchestra is one of the ministry’s initiatives to support classical and serious arts while boosting cultural activity in the provinces through the discovery and professional training of young performers.
