The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), located near the iconic Giza Pyramids, is preparing to implement new official operating hours starting February 1, 2025.

Ahmed Ghoneim, the Chief Executive Officer of the GEM Authority, announced that the new schedule will see the museum open its doors to visitors seven days a week, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., during both the summer and winter seasons.

Reduced hours will be observed during the holy month of Ramadan, which is set to begin on March 1, with the museum closing at 4 p.m.

Additionally, visitors will benefit from extended evening hours on Wednesdays and Saturdays, when the museum will remain open until 9 p.m.

These adjusted hours are accompanied by the rollout of a series of ticket discounts and exemptions approved by GEM’s board. This initiative aims to create more opportunities for visitors from all walks of life to experience the museum’s treasures firsthand.

Positioned as one of the world’s premier cultural institutions, the GEM boasts cutting-edge facilities and houses a breathtaking collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts. Among its treasures is the complete Tutankhamun collection, displayed in its entirety for the first time, along with countless other relics that showcase the splendor of Egypt’s ancient history.

“The GEM is not just a museum; it is a cultural hub that bridges the world to the fascinating legacy of ancient Egypt,” said Ghoneim during the announcement.

“These changes reflect our commitment to delivering an exceptional experience to our visitors and preparing for the full-scale launch of this extraordinary institution.”
