In celebration of the 103rd anniversary of the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb, the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) announced today the official launch of its new audio guide service as it welcomes its first group of public visitors.

CEO of the Grand Egyptian Museum Authority, Ahmed Ghoneim, said that the audio guide will enrich visitors’ journeys through the museum’s expansive galleries, offering in-depth stories and fascinating insights about a carefully curated selection of Egypt’s most remarkable artifacts.

“The service aims to foster greater appreciation and understanding of ancient Egyptian civilisation, presenting history in a fresh, accessible, and engaging way,” he added.

Currently, the audio guide is available in Arabic, English, and Japanese. Additional languages including Italian, German, Spanish, French, Korean, and Chinese will be introduced soon.

By the end of 2025, the museum plans to provide a truly global visitor experience that befits its stature as the world’s largest museum dedicated to a single civilisation, Ghoneim added.

The launch of this innovative service underscores Egypt’s ongoing commitment to welcoming travellers from around the world and sharing the wonders of its heritage with audiences everywhere.
