As part of the preparations for the highly anticipated official opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) on November 1, the museum will be temporarily closed on October 15 through 4.

Over this period, essential organisational and logistical preparations will be carried out to ensure a seamless inauguration.

These final arrangements are critical for the grand opening, CEO of the GEM’s Authority, Ahmed Ghoneim, said.

The museum will resume welcoming visitors on November 4, 2025, coinciding with the 103rd anniversary of the discovery of King Tutankhamun’s tomb, offering guests a complete and immersive experience of this world-class cultural landmark, he added.

Since October 16, 2024, the GEM has been operating in a trial phase, with select areas open to the public.

Official visiting hours were introduced in February 2025, with the museum open daily from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm year-round.

Moreover, extended evening hours are available every Wednesday and Saturday from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, enhancing accessibility for visitors.

GEM, located near the Giza Pyramids, is set to become a global hub for showcasing Egypt’s rich archaeological heritage, housing over 100,000 artifacts, including treasures from King Tutankhamun’s collection.
