Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy, inaugurated the Egyptian pavilion at the 17th China Outbound Travel and Tourism Market (COTTM) in Beijing.
During the event, Minister Fathy engaged in numerous discussions with key tour operators and tourism and aviation firms from the Chinese market.
These meetings focused on enhancing collaborative efforts to boost the influx of Chinese tourists and explored future expectations for this movement.
Strategies to collaboratively promote Egypt’s tourist attractions to Chinese visitors were also discussed, highlighting the unique and diverse experiences offered by Egypt.
On the sidelines of the exhibition, the minister conducted exclusive media interviews with representatives from prominent Chinese and international outlets such as Hainan TV, China’s Xinhua News Agency, People.com.cn, Beijing Daily, Global Times, CGTN in Arabic and the CCTV China.
Additionally, a press conference hosted by the Egyptian Tourism Authority took place within the Egyptian Pavilion, complemented by another held at the Egyptian Embassy in China. The latter featured a diverse group of influential Chinese media representatives, experts in tourism, and Chinese travel companies.
These interactions underscored the deep bond between Egypt and China, particularly in the realms of tourism and antiquities, as well as the evolving dynamics in Chinese tourists visiting Egypt.
Minister Fathy highlighted the advancements in Egypt’s tourism sector, including improvements in infrastructure, transportation networks, and new developments like New Alamein City and the Ras Al-Hikma project on the northern coast.
A highlight of the exhibition was a promotional film, presented in Chinese, showcasing the Grand Egyptian Museum and Egypt’s progress in tourism and infrastructure, including new cities and major national initiatives. This presentation garnered widespread acclaim from visitors and pavilion attendees.
This year’s Egyptian Pavilion spans approximately 100 square meters and is designed to resemble a temple. It features large displays for promotional videos showcasing Egypt’s diverse tourism offerings. The pavilion is home to 14 hotel facilities, an Egyptian tourism company, and EgyptAir.
