CAIRO – Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawass confirmed that the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum represents a global day for both Egypt and the world.
He noted that modern Egypt, through this historic event, is presenting the greatness of ancient Egypt in its finest form.
In exclusive remarks to Nile Radio, Hawass stated that the opening “represents a celebration for museums worldwide.”
He explained that in the history of museums, no single museum has achieved such widespread fame for multiple reasons.

The Grand Egyptian Museum’s prominence stems from two main factors: first, it will feature a unique display of the most famous pharaohs’ artifacts; and second, it is the largest museum in the world dedicated to a single civilization.
Hawass added that Egypt will reap numerous benefits from this global event, including politically, with the attendance of more than 60 prominent international figures, and in terms of media coverage, with hundreds of channels broadcasting worldwide.
The museum is expected to generate significant tourism and economic gains, enhancing Egypt’s appeal as a destination for visitors to the Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum.
He further explained that the opening day will feature an unprecedented global broadcast, reaching around 500 international stations.
“This day will remain a milestone in the history of culture and archaeology, not just for Egypt, but for all of human history,” Hawass said.
The Egyptian archaeologist concluded his remarks, saying: “We are proud and delighted that the world will witness on Saturday the most important opening of the greatest museum in history. Today, Egypt is presenting humanity with a new chapter of creativity and civilization.”
