World Bank delegation praises Egypt’s success in making comprehensive health reform

Members of a high-level delegation from the World Bank have praised the success of Egypt’s pioneering experience in comprehensive health reform, and achieving health coverage for Egyptians in governorates where the Universal Health Insurance System is applied.

This came during the delegation’s visit on Wednesday to healthcare institutions in Port Said, the first governorate nationwide to implement the new Comprehensive Health Insurance System.

The delegation members commended medical capabilities at institutions of the General Authority of Healthcare as well as the efforts exerted to facilitate citizens’ access to services, the authority said in a statement.

The visit aims to enhance partnership between the World Bank and Egypt as regards supporting the success of the Universal Health Insurance System; in a way that maintains the continuity of progress achieved by the country’s health sector and contributes to reaching sustainable development goals as part of Egypt Vision 2030, the statement said.

It also targets assessing the success of applying an online system of Egypt’s new health insurance system on the ground, it added.
