Egypt’s Minister of Higher Education and Sceintific Research Ayman Ashour on Monday met with Abdul-Aziz Almuzaini, Director of UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science in the Arab States to discuss co-operation.
The minister spoke of the significant role played by UNESCO through its regional bureau in Cairo in bolstering co-operation with Egypt in education, scientific research and innovation.
Ashour noted efforts by his ministry in recent years to promote scientific research in universities, which contributed to international publications and improved the rankings of Egyptian Universities by international institutions. The meeting covered opportunities to increase university programmes organised by UNESCO in Egypt in applied technology.
Discussions also focused on the possibility to develop research centres in universities and training in nanotechnology.
Almuzaini referred to the organisation of a UNESCO booth on the sidelines of the COP27 conference to present the latest research into climate change and sustainable development in Africa and the Middle East.
