Egypt’s Minister of Culture Nivene el-Kilani and British Council Country Director Elizabeth White on Monday explored bilateral co-operation in creative economy, developing and preserving heritage crafts, and youth training.
The minister lauded continuous co-operation with the British Council.
Ministry’s support for heritage crafts and training new generations of craftspeople have helped open markets for their products at home and abroad, el-Kilani said.
For her part, White said the British Council has been doing great work in Egypt since 1984 in terms of building relationships and co-operation, particularly in the teaching of foreign languages.
The centre recently began work on cultural industries and creative economy in a hundred countries, including Egypt, White added.
The country Director hailed the preliminary steps before co-operation protocol between the British Council and the Ministry of Culture.
The centre targets young people of all levels of education with training to carry out projects in co-operation with authorities concerned.
The British Council chief invited Minister al-Kilani to open a roundtable, with specialists taking part aiming to come out with new ideas for developing heritage crafts.
