The Cabinet’s Media Center has highlighted the rapid development of the West Qantara Industrial Zone, describing it as a success story in attracting investment over the past two years.
An infographic published on the center’s social media platforms showed that the zone, part of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), has attracted 54 projects from nine nationalities, with total investments of around $1.54 billion.
Covering 3.6 million square metres, the zone’s projects are expected to provide around 68,900 direct jobs, according to the infographic.
The development of West Qantara reflects the state’s efforts to expand industrial zones, strengthen their ability to attract investment and provide integrated infrastructure and a favourable environment for establishing and expanding projects.
The zone has also transformed from land that was previously submerged in water into a promising industrial hub, supporting the localisation of various productive activities, job creation and economic development.
Textiles and ready-made garments account for the largest share of projects, with 43 facilities, followed by packaging, travel bags, food industries, logistics and poultry farming equipment and supplies.
