CAIRO – Egypt’s Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed Salah el-Din Moustafa reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to localising advanced manufacturing technologies, increasing local content and adding value to the national economy, as well as modernizing all affiliated companies to boost production quality and attract investment.
During an unannounced visit Wednesday to Helwan Company for Machinery and Equipment (Factory 999 Military), the minister inspected workshops and production lines, including the hot-dip galvanizing plant, to check compliance with production schedules and quality standards.
The factory produces military equipment including, mortars and rocket launchers and uses surplus capacity to manufacture civilian products mainly, agricultural machinery, environmental equipment, transport components and smart utility meters.
Mostafa urged workers to enhance performance, address operational challenges and maintain production line efficiency, with a view to promoting governance, maintenance and industrial safety.
Factory 999 is considered a leading producer of machine tools in Egypt and the Middle East and recently cooperated with India’s ITAMCO to assemble 911 “Qute” vehicles for GB Auto.
