Egyptian Transport Minister Kamel el Wazir inspected on Wednesday the Abbassiya workshop for the production of railway switches, in presence of Austrian experts in order to kick-start an advanced production line, according to a statement by the ministry.
The statement said the minister toured the different sections of the workshop and was posted on all production stages and necessary equipment.
Austrian company Voest Albin seeks to raise the efficiency of the current production line at the Abbasiya Workshop to turn it into a modern production line equipped with the latest high-tech machines to ensure quality and reach the production of 300 keys a year, added Wazir.
This is in order to provide an outstanding service to the public and promote this vital and important facility, which carries millions of passengers annually, and to preserve the property and assets of the facility and maximise its resources.
