The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced the launch of a community participation workshop themed “Heritage of A Neighbourhood … Communities Full of Life” in Old Cairo and Luxor starting from tomorrow and will run until November27.
In a statement released yesterday, the agency said the workshop is the first direct communication event with the public to get acquainted with the available opportunities to train and build capacity of the local community and enhance participation in cultural tourism.
The agency added that the project for the comprehensive management of cultural tourism is the first of its kind because it draws up comprehensive frameworks and executive policies to manage cultural tourism at historic Cairo sites.
The statement also said that the project aims to upgrade a number of cultural and archaeological sites and revive investments in heritage and tourism promotion for these areas.
