EL-ARISH – Governor of North Sinai Khaled Megawer confirmed that the governorate is making significant efforts to receive relief and humanitarian aid destined for Gaza, noting that the governorate receives the aid from Arab and foreign countries, as well as regional and international organisations.
This came during the governor’s meeting on Monday with the US Ambassador in Cairo Hero Mustafa, who praised Egypt’s role in the Middle East and its efforts in the Gaza crisis. She highlighted Egypt’s collaboration with various partners, especially the United States, to restore stability in the region.
She emphasized the Egyptian efforts to ensure that humanitarian aid reaches civilians in Gaza, receiving and storing this aid through the Egyptian Red Crescent in El-Arish.
In this context, Megawer stated that aid is received via three routes: trucks by land, ships through the Arish seaport, and planes via El-Arish International Airport.
The governor added that the aid received in North Sinai is stored in several equipped logistical warehouses and gradually sent to Gaza. This is coordinated by the Egyptian Red Crescent, its Palestinian counterpart, and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) according to the urgent needs in the sector, he explained.
The U.S. ambassador and her accompanying delegation, which included Special Envoy for Humanitarian Affairs in the Middle East Liz Grande, and the Director of the National Security Council for North African Affairs David Linfield, visited the logistical warehouses of the Egyptian Red Crescent in Arish. They also inspected the aid trucks in the logistical area in Rafah and the land port
