The exchange rate of the US dollar against the Egyptian pound increased during Tuesday’s trading at Egypt’s major banks, after the Central Bank of Egypt rose the interest rate by 1% in March.
At the National Bank of Egypt (NBE) and Banque Misr, the dollar rate was up eight piasters, recording LE18.45 for buying and soared by eight piasters for selling to hit LE18.53.
At the Commercial International Bank (CIB), the dollar exchange rate rose by nine piasters to reach LE18.47 for buying and LE18.57 for selling.
As for main currencies’ exchange rates, world capital markets and banks are being affected on the back of repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, with euro prices increasing for selling and buying.
The euro price registered LE20.02 for buying and LE20.17 for selling at Banque Misr and the NBE.
At the CIB, the euro price was LE20.04 for buying and LE20.21 for selling.
The pound sterling at the NBE and Banque Misr registered LE23.99 for buying and LE24.15 for selling.
At the CIB, the pound sterling exchange rate amounted to LE24.01 for buying and LE24.21 for selling.
The Saudi riyal price stood at LE4.91 for buying and LE4.94 for selling at Banque Misr and the NBE.
