ALEXANDRIA – Uruguayan Ambassador in Cairo Adriana Lesedini said on Monday Egypt plays a main role in the Middle East, the Arab world, and Africa and exerts effective efforts in resolving conflicts in some countries.
Egypt is an important country in maintaining peace in the region, Lesedini told MENA on the sidelines of the Ibero-American Film Week Festival, held in Alexandria.
The Uruguayan ambassador pointed out that Egypt exerts tremendous efforts to organise the UN climate conference, COP27, in November and hold fruitful talks on combating climate change, asserting the importance of the conference as an international event discussing the preservation of the environment.
She also pointed to the depth and strength of her country’s ties with Egypt in all fields, saying the Ibero-American Film Week Festival promotes the rapprochement of peoples.
As many as 16 countries take part in the event, including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Dominican Republic, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
