Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi attended on Wednesday the 35th educational seminar of the Armed Forces to mark Martyr’s Day at Al Manara International Conference Centre in New Cairo.
The celebration began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an. Then the military band played the national anthem.
Egypt has been celebrating the Martyr’s Day since 1969 in commemoration of the martyrdom of the Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Army, Abdel Moneim Riad, during the war of attrition with Israel.
During the symposium, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi watched a documentary entitled “The Brave Army”.
The film highlighted the capabilities of the Armed Forces over the past few years and the leaderships’ keenness to keep pace with the latest global systems in armament and training.
The film also shed light on the unprecedented leap in terms of training and armament in all the major formations and branches of the Armed Forces in order to support their combat capability in accordance with accurate scientific plans to face all challenges and threats to Egypt’s national security.
The film also included excerpts from previous statements made by President Sisi, during which he said that the Egyptian army is one of the strongest armies in the region, adding that it is a wise army that protects and does not threaten.
During the the 35th educational seminar of the Armed Forces to mark Martyr’s Day, President Sisi watched the documentary entitled “The Brave Army” which reviewed the unprecedented development related to armament systems, and training of all formations and main services which effectively increased the combat abilities of the Armed Forces.
The film also shed light on the Armed Forces’ efforts to modernise military and purchase sophisticated weapons and open bases across the nation.
The film referred to the efforts exerted by the Armed Forces to keep pace with the development of the arms industry contributed to preserving prominent position among the top world armies.
It further shed light on the Armed Forces’ capabilities, which were clearly shown in Egypt Defense Expo (EDEX) and encouraged the foreign countries to hold co-operation with Egypt in the areas of armament and joint military production.
A number of the symposium’s attendees, representing segments of the Egyptian nation, pointed out to the importance of building awareness, saying that this constitutes the most powerful weapon. They also warned against rumors circulated on social media.
A documentary about the biography of General Abdel Moneim Riad, whose death anniversary marks the Martyr’s Day on March 9, was screened.
