Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his spouse witnessed on Wednesday the celebration of Egyptian Woman’s Day and Mother of the Year.
The president saluted the gathering upon his arrival at the headquarters of Al-Manara International Conference Centre in New Cairo to attend the celebration.
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, along with ministers and senior statesmen are taking part in the gathering.
The celebration of Egyptian Woman’s Day and Mother of the Year, at the headquarters of Al-Manara International Conference Center in New Cairo, started with screening a documentary entitled “Bright Numbers” featuring outstanding achievements of Egyptian women, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
According to the documentary, Egyptian women participation in government reached 25 per cent, in the parliament 28 per cent and 44 per cent in the National Council for Human Rights (NCHR).
The documentary cited Egyptian women – holding for the first time – the post of presidential national security advisor.
Meantime, Egyptian females led senior positions, including the post of governor, assistance justice minister, head of the NCHR and Senate deputy, it said.
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s support for Egyptian women enabled them to assume all posts in the country without discrimination, President of the National Council for Women (NCW) Maya Morsi said.
Addressing celebrations, held to honor Egyptian women and ideal mothers with President Sisi and his spouse Entessar el Sisi attending Wednesday, Morsi added “We take pride that president Sisi supports Egyptian women before the world at large.”
For the first time in the history of the country, Egypt has female judges and prosecutors, she pointed out.
Morsi went on to say the password is the genuine political determination, which helped women enjoy all their constitutional rights.
The NCW, the Egyptian women’s home, is working in all governorates to help in programmes of “Decent Life” and “Developing the Family,” she noted.
Social Solidarity Minister Nivine Kabbaj said President Abdel Fattah Sisi has been keen since taking the helm on rectifying the idea about women in Egypt and getting them to participate in building the state and join the march of comprehensive sustainable development.
She made the remarks on Wednesday during the honouring ceremony of Egyptian women and ideal mothers in 2022 which was attended by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his wife Intisar El Sisi.
Kabbaj underlined the ministry’s interest in promoting the rights of women and mothers for their effective contribution to the society.
She noted that women represent 74 per cent of beneficiaries of the social protection programme of Takaful and Karama, referring the president’s directives to double compensations to the families of martyrs to 100 per cent.
Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala el Said said Wednesday Egypt’s women live the most prosperous age under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi who gives top priority to caring for them and empowering them.
During a ceremony to honor Egyptian women and ideal mothers in the presence of the president and his wife Intisar El Sisi, the minister said the president gave Egyptian women special care since the first day of assuming power out of his belief that women are able to deal with all crises.
The minister said the Egyptian women work in all institutions and enjoy all political and civil rights a matter that empowered them to play an important role in the society.
She added that the state works to support women and empower them in all projects and initiatives including the presidential initiative to develop rural areas known as Haya Karima (Decent life).
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi honoured a number of Egyptian women and ideal mothers nationwide.
President Sisi also awarded two women from Sharqiya and Sohag governorates the Order of Virtues of Second Class.
He also honoured women from the Upper Egypt governorates of Sohag and Qena as well as a handicapped woman from Sharqiya and a volunteer to Decent Life from Beheira.
President Sisi honoured late secretary-general of Egypt’s National Council for Women Farkhonda Hassan, who had been one of the leading female figures in Egypt and the entire Arab world. Her daughter Dr. Wegdan Lotfi was handed over the award.
Sisi also honored Soheir Konsowa to whom the credit is given for releasing Egypt’s first Human Development Report.
The president also bestowed an award on Mona Omar, the former assistant foreign minister for African affairs.
