Public and private universities on Saturday have begun accepting online applications from Egyptian students who are returning from Sudan, Ukraine and Russia to transfer to other universities.
Private universities will be accepting transfer applications until October, a recent statement by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research said.
Students enrolled in universities accredited by the Supreme Council of Universities (SCU) in academic years 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 are also eligible to apply for transfers, the ministry said.
However, students in universities not accredited by the SCU will have to sit placement examinations.
Egyptian students returning from these three countries must furnish proof of residence and transcripts to complete transfer procedures and fulfill graduation requirements.
Students who were enrolled in preparatory years in SCU-accredited universities in these three countries can transfer as first year students in equivalent universities in Egypt.
Students who were enrolled in SCU-accredited universities in these three countries for less than a semester will have to apply as freshmen in equivalent universities in Egypt.
Acceptance of students who were enrolled in universities not SCU-accredited will be subject to grades obtained for Thanaweya Amma (Higher Secondary Certificate), the ministry added.
