Frederica Meijer, representative of the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) in Egypt, hailed the great efforts exerted by Egypt to achieve sustainable development in various governorates in order to create jobs and secure a decent life to all citizens.
She added that various UN agencies jointly back the presidential initiative “Decent Life”.
She made the remarks during a meeting Wednesday with International Co-operation Minister Rania Mashat.
Mashat lauded the efforts exerted by UN agencies and programs in 2020 for supporting the government’s emergency plan for combating the coronavirus, especially the role played by the UN Population Fund which is a strategic partner with the Egyptian government in implementing the national population strategy (2015-2030) and the national plan for combating female circumcision (2014-2018).
The talks also tackled cooperation with the fund’s regional program in the period from 2023-2037.
The minister stressed the government’s keenness on improving the quality of life of the Egyptian people through reducing population growth rates and restoring the balance between economic growth rates and population growth.
