UN Under-Secretary-General and UN Women Executive Director Sima Bahous hailed stances of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his call for an immediate and sustainable ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
She praised Sisi’s stand on rejecting any forced displacement attempts of the Palestinian people and his call for holding a Peace Conference in Cairo and utmost keenness on ensuring the safe delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Visiting Bahous said while paying a trip to the National Council for Women’s HQ, where she was warmly received by National Council for Women )NCW)’s President Maya Morsi that she is keen on promoting coordination to provide needs of women and girls in UN relief assistance to Gaza.
The UN official, meanwhile, said Egypt has a crucial role in both the Arab and Islamic region and the country plays an important role in protecting women and enhancing security and peace worldwide.
Morsi commended tireless efforts exerted by the UN official in empowering women in the world and paid tribute to fruitful partnership and cooperation with UN Women.
