Younger generations face numerous housing issues, United Nations Assistant Secretary-General and Executive Director of the UN-Habitat Anacláudia Rossbach warned Thursday, emphasising the need for collaboration to find sustainable solutions for urban development and secure necessary funding.
Many urban areas face infrastructure issues, including sanitation and electricity, while investments are concentrated only in vital cities, leaving a funding gap, Rossbach told a roundtable on the global action plan for financing housing on the sidelines of the 12th World Urban Forum hosted by Cairo.
She emphasized the need to grow investments in struggling cities to achieve clear development.
Rusbach stressed the importance of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 to realise tangible results, including sustainable cities and communities and enhanced quality of life at all levels.
