Foreign Minister sameh shoukri stressed egypt’s firm stance of calling for a comprehensive political solution to the
Yemeni crisis, in a way that realises the Yemeni people’s aspirations for security, stability and development and ends their protracted humanitarian crisis.
In remarks during his meeting Sunday with the visiting un special envoy for Yemen, Martin Griffiths, Minister shoukri
emphasised that the aspired political solution should be drawn from three frames of reference; namely, the Gulf initiative, the national dialogue’s outcome and the un resolution no. 2216, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.
Minister shoukri also reiterated full support for the Yemeni legitimate government and for preserving Yemen’s unity, independence and territorial integrity, spokesman Hafez said. For his part, the un envoy apprised.
Minister shoukri on the latest developments in Yemen and his current endeavours to achieve ceasefire and resume the political process, with the aim of reaching an overall and sustainable settlement of the Yemeni crisis.
Griffiths commended egypt’s efforts to resolve the Yemeni conflict and provide continuous support to the Yemeni people.
