Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) Walid Gamal El-Dien, attended on Sunday a ceremony of laying the foundation stone of new production lines for the Turkish Hayat Egypt for Hygienic Products, to be built on a total area of 30,000 square metres within the industrial developer ‘Orascom Industrial Parks’ in the authority’s Sokhna Integrated Zone.
Expansion of the factory’s production lines is related to producing non-textile health products with an investment of $44 million (LE2.2 billion).
The production expansion will offer more than 400 direct job opportunities, with 75 per cent of the total production to be allocated for export purposes.
The new lines are slated to start production by March 2026.
The ceremony was attended by Suez Governor Tarek El Shazly, the Turkish Ambassador in Cairo Salih Mutlu Şen, General Manager of Hayat Egypt Senol Keserlioglu, and a number of SCZone senior officials and representatives from Orascom Industrial Parks
The SCZone has recently managed to attract diverse investments in the sectors targeted by the authority’s strategy, SCZone Chief Walid Gamal El-Dien said.
He added that Hayat Egypt’s expansion adds a new chapter to the Turkish investments within the, with 18 companies operating in various sectors, most notably textiles and garments, and health products,and total investments worth $793.8 million.
These include 10 companies in Sokhna Integrated Zone investments worth $508 million dollars, and 8 in West Qantara West, with investments worth $285.8 million, the SCZone chief noted.
The expansions reflect the great confidence of Turkish investors in the investment climate in the authority, thanks to the relentless promotional efforts made by the SCZone, and the huge investments it pumped to provide infrastructure and facilities in line with the latest international specifications.
He also referred to the authority’s efforts to digitise the one-stop shop services, and improve the investors’ experience and overcome potential challenges.
Gamal El-Dien voiced hopes to attract more investments from different countries to achieve the authority’s vision of localising and deepening industry in the targeted sectors.
