Transport min. visits TALGO company in Madrid to follow up production lines of trains for Egypt

CAIRO – Egyptian Transport Minister Kamel el-Wazir held an extended meeting with top officials of the Spanish company of Tren Articulado Ligero Goicoechea Oriol (TALGO) in Madrid to discuss supporting joint co-operation in the different transport projects and following up the production plan of six trains his ministry has contracted with TALGO.

Acting Egyptian Ambassador to Spain Mona Arafa attended the meeting held on the onset of Wazir’s current visit to Spain.

Head of TALGO said that Wazir’s visit reflects fruitful co-operation between Egypt and Spain, according to a statement of the Ministry of Transport on Tuesday.

TALGO displayed a film on the company as it is one of the biggest companies manufacturing regular and speed trains around the world.

The company made a presentation on the situation of giving six trains to the Egyptian National Railways which included photos for the 1st and 2nd class carriages, asserting that it prioritises this project over other different projects implemented by the company.

Wazir said that the Egyptian government implements a comprehensive plan to develop the current fleet of the Egyptian railway locomotives at the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

For its part, TALGO company expressed resolve over co-operating with the Egyptian Ministry of Transport in the field of couchettes, making a presentation on the proposed supplies of the sleeping accommodation carriages.
