Egypt’s Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir has hailed the level of trade and investment relations binding Egypt and Australia.
He was speaking at a meeting Sunday with Australian Ambassador here Axel Wabenhorst.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Trade and Industry said the minister shed light on the role of the private sector in the exporting process and the ministry’s efforts in organizing exports in line with agreements signed with international blocs and countries.
According to the statement, the minister discussed with Australian envoy means to increase Egyptian agricultural exports to Australia especially fresh vegetables and fruits as well as measures to facilitate agricultural quarantine measures on Egyptian exports in addition to the measures of importing livestock from Australia.
For his part, the Australian envoy said his country is interested in promoting trade and investment relations with Egypt as one of the most important markets in the region and Africa.
He said Australian food importers and exporters pay attention to Egypt’s food markets, adding “there are major chances to export Egyptian agricultural products to Australia.
