CAIRO – Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled al-Anani discussed during a meeting Monday with President of Louvre Museum Laurence des Cars and her accompanying delegation ways of boosting bilateral co-operation.
The minister congratulated the world’s renowned museum’s director on her new post, as she became the museum’s head in September. Anani reaffirmed the depth of Egyptian-French ties, as the two countries enjoy deeply rooted historic ties, along with co-operation in the various fields, including the tourism and antiquities spheres.
During the meeting, Anani and de Cars tackled a number of issues, including the renewal of a co-operation protocol signed between the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA), in Cairo and the Department of Islamic Arts at Louvre Museum in 2016 to promote co-operation in the field of exchanging expertise, training of embalmers and holding of temporary archeological exhibitions.
The minister also stressed he importance of continued co-operation on a number of ongoing ventures.
For her part, de Cars voices her happiness over the meeting, saying it would help pave the way for further fruitful co-operation in the domains of antiquities and museums.
