CAIRO – Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy Tuesday emphasised commitment to co-operating with all bodies to fulfill requirements of tourism facilities, while adhering to standards of preserving the course of the River Nile and its branches.

The minister made the remarks during meeting of the joint committee on Tuesday, under Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hany Sewilam.

The meeting was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities and the Armed Forces Land Projects Authority.

The meeting tackled operation of the electronic system for managing Nile land allocations, dealing with encroachments and filling operations in the water sector of the River Nile course and mulling fees categories for the usufruct of Nile land allocations, along with mooring of floating structures along the Nile course from Shubra to Helwan, in light of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives.

Sewilam emphasized the importance of coordination between state bodies regarding dealing with the Nile River and its two branches, while taking into account all technical standards that guarantee the preservation of the river’s water sector and the protection of its bridges.

The participants agreed on maintaining action to remove encroachments on the River Nile and its branches.
