Controls on food exports and imports must be tightened in order to guarantee consumers high-quality and safe products in line with presidential directives.
This statement by Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation el-Sayed el-Qoseir came during his meeting with Egyptian National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) chairman Tarek el-Hobi on co-ordination and co-operation between the ministry’s reference laboratories and the authority, an official press release said.
The minister gave orders for raising the number of accredited reference laboratories and supplying necessary equipment.
El-Qoseir also stated commitment to compliance to European Union requirements to maintain the competitiveness of Egyptian exports.
