Egypt and South Korea are now at the stage of the best government-to-government co-operation of all time.
This statement by South Korean Ambassador to Egypt Jin-Wook Hong came during a special function at the embassy, during which he said bilateral co-operation is currently at its best since the establishment of the Comprehensive Co-operative Partnership in 2016, when President Abdel Fattah El Sisi paid an official visit to South Korea.
The leaders of both countries keep close contact through visits and phone calls for in-depth communication for the benefit of both parties, the envoy added.
It should be noted that former South Korean President Moon Jae-in paid an official visit to Egypt in January 2022, and President Sisi had phone talks with newly-elected President Yoon Suk-yeol in October, which strengthened bilateral co-operation ties between Cairo and Seoul.
In February, the two countries signed a contract for the local manufacture of the K9 Howitzer. In November, Na Kyung-Won, Special Presidential Envoy for Climate and Environment attended COP27, which Egypt hosted in Sharm el-Sheikh last month.
South Korea and Egypt have made great and tireless efforts throughout this year to maintain close co-operation ties in transport, infrastructure, business, and culture.
The South Korean ambassador said the Egyptian government is proceeding ahead with development efforts, with a view to carrying out all national ventures, despite the negative impact of the coronavirus and the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, thus luring South Korean investors to expand investments in Egypt.
In the meantime, he said his country is looking forward to beefing up co-operation with the Egyptian side in all fields and at all levels.
South Korean investments in Egypt cover fields including electronic products, information technology, textile industry, auto parts, chemicals, building materials, renewable energy, construction, shipping and transportation.
